Cllr Sally Howell and Cllr Cath Gleadow have joined the Liberal Democrats.

The duo of Huntingdonshire District Councillors have been welcomed into the Lib Dem team, with both having a strong record of standing up for residents and working hard year-round.

As an Executive Councillor, Cllr Howell has helped progress the plans for Sawtry swimming pool’s reopening after it was closed.

Cllr Sally Howell (Yaxley, formerly independent) said: “As an independent councillor, I have always put my community first, working constructively with people from all backgrounds to achieve practical, positive outcomes. Over time, it has become clear that the Liberal Democrats share these same core values — a strong commitment to local decision-making, fairness, transparency and compassion.”

Cllr Gleadow is an incredibly respected District Councilor and community champion, representing St Ives South. She has a strong record of scrutinising and improving council policy as chair of one of HDC’s Overview and Scrutiny committees, and have helped a massive number of residents with casework and other issues. She joins the Liberal Democrats from the Labour Party.

Cllr Sarah Conboy, leader of the HDC Liberal Democrat Group, said: “Sally and Cath are true local champions who have made a real difference for residents and who share our values. I'm incredibly proud to welcome them to the Liberal Democrat team."
