Martijn Sjoorda on the Netherlands 2025 General Election: far right losing ground to liberals
15 December 1930-2100, on Zoom
In June the far-right PVV party under Gert Wilders left the ruling coalition, precipitating a General Election in which they lost a significant number of seats, opening the door to a liberal-led coalition.
Martijn was active in his youth in various roles in the Dutch Liberal political youth organisation. Recently, he became active in the VVD again, with the objective of reinventing liberalism for modern times. He was one the iniators of the move towards a new liberal manifesto that looks beyond several election cycles.
