The Lib Dems have won majority control of Cambridgeshire County Council, becoming the first party other than the Conservatives to achieve this.

The result is an endorsement of what the Liberal Democrats have already achieved as the largest group on the council, including millions of extra pounds in highways repair funding and protecting social care services.

The results in the Huntingdon area were also great news for the Lib Dem team - with Graham Wilson holding the seat of Godmanchester & Huntingdon South, and Liam Beckett gaining the seat of Brampton & Buckden.

The Lib Dems also came second in a further 4 seats in Huntingdon constituency - including an incredibly close result in Huntingdon North & Hartford where Jo Harvey was just 4 votes short of beating the Conservative winner.

The local party also pays tribute to Andrew Wood in Yaxley & Farcet for the contribution he has made as the area’s County Councillor since the by-election last year. Andrew will continue to work hard for the area and hold the division’s Reform Councillor to account.

A bar chart showing the vote shares for each party in the divisions in Huntingdon Constituency. Con 30.5%, Ref 24.5%, LD 18.8%, Lab 11.5%, Ind 8.9%, Grn 5.7%

These results show that the hardworking Lib Dem team are the only credible alternative in our area to the Conservatives who have continued to let our area down, or Reform, who don't have a real plan for our council.
