Celebrating the reopening of Sawtry swimming pool as OneLeisure Sawtry by Liberal Democrat-led HDC, Cllr Sarah Conboy said:

“I am delighted that OneLeisure Sawtry's swimming pool is back open for public and school use. We have been working with the school to support reopening, but it became clear that without significant investment, reopening the pool would not be possible. This has been a priority for us from day one - ensuring the health and well-being of residents has been a key priority for the council.”

The project to reopen the pool was overseen and steered by Cllr Sally Howell (Lib Dem), who is the Executive Councillor for Communities, Health, and Leisure.

Highlighting the events which led to closure of the pool in 2022, Cllr Sally Howell, said:

“In 2019, when the Conservatives ran HDC, they gave away Sawtry's swimming pool and £80k of taxpayer money. They claimed they secured the future of the facilities, but their decisions led to the closure of the pool and the loss of such an important community asset. We just got it back open.

That's the difference a Lib Dem-led council makes. The choice in Huntingdonshire this May is clear: back to chaos with a Conservative-led council, or real change with a Liberal Democrat-led one.”
