Lib Dems best placed to beat Reform and the Tories in Hunts, say tactical vote experts
Advice published by independent tactical voting organisation Forward Democracy has shown that the Liberal Democrats are best placed to beat Reform UK and the Conservatives in Huntingdonshire.
Forward Democracy's website, StopReformUK.vote, successfully gave tactical voting advice in hundreds of seats at the 2024 general election, and since then has provided guidance to voters for hundreds of council elections.
For the 2026 Huntingdonshire District Council elections, their advice recommends voting for Lib Dem candidates in over 30 council seats across Huntingdonshire. Those seats cover rural and urban areas alike, with a Lib Dem vote recommended in villages such as Yaxley, Fenstanton, and Somersham, along with towns such as St Neots, and Huntingdon.
These recommendations follow Lib Dem success at recent elections in Cambridgeshire, including a record 3 Lib Dem MPs elected at the 2024 general election, and the Lib Dems winning a majority for the first time in the 2025 Cambridgeshire County Council elections.
Cllr Nathan Hunt, Vice-Chair of the Huntingdon Lib Dems, said:
“The evidence is clear. Huntingdonshire’s elections will be between the divisive Reform UK, the washed up Conservatives, and the hardworking Liberal Democrat team.”
“The Lib Dem team at HDC have helped the most vulnerable in our communities, reopened leisure facilities, protected our local environment, and we have a positive plan for our area. We are the real alternative to Reform UK and the Conservatives here, and only we can stop them from taking control of the council.”
“The choice this time is clear: a vote for the Lib Dem team with a real plan for our area, or division with the Conservatives and Reform UK. Labour and the Green Party are out of the race here.”
