Following Geoff Seeff in St Neots Eatons last year, and Andrew Wood in Yaxley earlier this year, James Catmur's victory is the third by-election in Huntingdonshire to be won by the Liberal Democrats. In all three cases, both the Conservative and Labour votes went down.

Day to day, James works in the transport sector, helping to improve road safety and transport reliability

The result shows that the Liberal Democrats are the best choice to beat the Tories in the new St Neots and Mid Cambridgeshire constituency - helping to remove the current, incompetent Tory govenment from power.
