Improvements made to ‘invisible’ Huntingdon bollards following councillors’ calls

New reflectors have been added to traffic calming bollards on a Huntingdon road that some residents had described as ‘invisible’.

The bollards on Sapley Road were often difficult to see in the dark, with the old white reflectors being worn and difficult to see as they blended into the background, especially when the sun was low.

The local District Councillors, Nathan Hunt and Jo Harvey (Lib Dem) were able to secure improvements to the bollards, with new red reflectors to improve visibility and make the traffic calming measures safer.

The new high-contrast reflectors help make sure that drivers give way to oncoming vehicles, improving safety in an area which many residents considered a risk at day and night.

Cllr Nathan Hunt said: “Residents raised their concerns about these bollards with me, and with the evenings getting darker we wanted to get this sorted. I'm thankful to those at the County Council  who we worked with to get this done.”

Cllr Jo Harvey said: “As District Councillors, highways don't fall into our remit, but we’ll always try to help residents. We're glad that the County Council has listened to our concerns and helped us take this step forward."
