All Huntingdon Town Council buildings are set to roll out free period products following a motion from Liberal Democrat councillor Nathan Hunt.

According to polling from ActionAid, 21% of people who use period products struggled to afford them in 2023, up 12% from the year before due to the ongoing cost of living crisis.

Councillors voted in favour of the plan to provide free period products in the Town Hall and Crematorium, bringing these buildings in line with the Coneygear Centre, which already has free sanitary products available.

Cllr Nathan Hunt said: “I'm really proud that town councillors backed my plan for free period products. This is a really low cost but high impact policy that so many councils have adopted, and I'm glad that Huntingdon has now joined them!”
