HDC Leader: “We’ve achieved so much in 3 years”

Councillor Sarah Conboy, Leader of Huntingdonshire District Council and the HDC Lib Dem Group has highlighted the progress made by the Council's administration over the past three years.
In her speech at the Full Council meeting on the 17th July 2025, Cllr Conboy highlighted a range of successes - including awarding £80k of community and local business grants, investment in communities and leisure, and the climate action the administration is making.
Cllr Conboy also highlighted priorities for the administration's fourth year - including getting a fair deal for the area in the Local Government Reorganisation process, tackling problem parking as Civil Parking Enforcement is introduced in the summer, continuing to develop the new Local Plan to make sure it works for our area's future, and protecting vital services by continuing to manage the Council's finances well.
She also paid tribute to council officers who had supported all of this work, and who continue to deliver vital services day in, day out - and highlighted that despite many Conservative-led councils across the country going bankrupt, HDC was on a solid footing thanks to the administration's work.
At the close of her speech, Cllr Conboy highlighted this by saying: “[We've achieved] not just the stability of a council when others are going under, but upward, forward and transformative momentum that ensures we are here for all of our residents. And that it’s an organisation people want to be part of – one that values its staff and enables them to achieve great things for our communities.”
“We inherited a district full of potential. Together, we’re unlocking it — one community, one place, one proud town at a time.”
