A care company which Conservative County Councillor Leedo George is a director of has been branded “inadequate” by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), which issued a scathing assessment of the firm’s leadership.

In its official report, the CQC stated: “Leaders did not have the skills, knowledge, experience and credibility to lead effectively, and they did not do so with integrity, openness and honesty.”

This shocking verdict raises serious questions about Cllr George’s fitness to hold public office. As a company director, he is directly responsible for the leadership failings identified by inspectors.

The report went on to state: “The provider did not consistently treat people with kindness, empathy and compassion, or respect their privacy and dignity”

Local Liberal Democrats are now calling on Cllr George to resign as a County Councillor immediately, citing an unacceptable conflict of interest and the urgent need to protect the vulnerable people receiving care from his company.

Liberal Democrat Councillor Jo Harvey said: “This report is damning. County Councillors have a responsibility for some of the most vulnerable people in our county in the social care system. The fact that Cllr George's own care company falls so far short of the standards our residents expect us to meet raises serious questions about his suitability to serve as a County Councillor.”
