Liberal Democrats gained 45 seats in the Council elections on May 5th. For comparison, UKIP gained 31 and both the Conservative and Labour parties lost Councillors.

Locally, Liberal Democrats triumphed by winning Godmanchester with 61% of the votes cast and by holding both Brampton and Huntingdon East.
Chair of the local party, Councillor Sarah Conboy, said “These results are very encouraging and show that the Liberal Democrat fightback is now well under way.”
