Better local jobs

We have a strong economy, but due to the lack of high-value industry located locally our potential to increase local prosperity is limited. We continue to export out higher earners to Cambridge and London. The cuts to public transport have led to increased traffic congestion on local roads, while a substantial minority of residents with no access to private vehicles find any form of travel increasingly difficult and expensive – in many cases this severely limits the jobs that they can access.

Most of our jobs are in manufacturing, distribution, the service sectors, and agriculture. We need a broader range of local employment opportunities. We will promoteHuntingdonshire as a location for sustainable high-tech economic growth and manage access to training opportunities across the district.

We will focus on how we rejuvenate our economy in the wake of Covid 19, including expanding provision of managed offices for remote working and the necessary high-speed broadband and mobile phone coverage.
